Silk Peeling Cocoons

Organic

PRODUCT FEATURES

It has been one of the beauty secrets well kept by Far Eastern women for thousands of years. It is also used in many beauty centers today. Silkworm cocoons contain a key protein identified to be beneficial in skincare, sericin. Sericin has been hailed for having anti-wrinkle, anti-aging benefits, as well as for promoting skin elasticity and moisturizing. Sericin is known as to improve the skin barrier and production of collagen and fibroblast, both useful in firming up the skin (and thus potentially reducing wrinkles).

Silk consists of two main proteins called fibroin (fibrous protein) and sericin (globular, gluing protein). Sericin has a high hydroxy amino acid content (about 46%) and a water binding capacity that regulates the moisture content of the skin. With its unique amino acid sequence, it shows tightening and anti-wrinkle effects on the skin. Recent studies have shown that the series is beneficial in cell culture and tissue engineering due to its antioxidant character, moisturizing ability, and mitogenic effect on mammalian cells. In addition, its positive effects on keratinocytes and fibroblasts have led to the development of sericin-based biomaterials for skin tissue repair, especially wound care materials.

Another characteristic feature of the series is its light scattering effect. In this way, it eliminates the harmful effects of the sun and gives the skin a radiant appearance.
